We left home at just about 9:30 after putting the things from the hall into the truck. We didn't hit sunshine until after passing Horseshoe Bay. It became a lovely trip up the Sea to Sky. As we approached Whistler, we ran into solid traffic in the other lane. The thousands of folks at the Premberton Music festival were headed back to Vancouver or points south after their weekend.

I'd forgotten what stretches of Highway 99 are really like. I applaud the old Ranger for getting up and over all those 13% grades. It is so curvy that many corners can only be negotiated at 30 kph. So, Google Maps is not very accurate in estimating the times.

We ate a late lunch at the Lillooet Subway at around 2:30.
Getting back in the dry zone is always such a contrast. We saw the exit for the campground and pulled into Marble Canyon around an hour later. We went about 205 miles.
Setting up the Coleman dome tent was a breeze, literally in one.

All bedding is inside and the sun has just set behind a mountain. The whitish peaks across the road were bright yellow a few minutes ago. Earlier I put my swimming suit on but chickened out as the water in the lake was cool. It says this has a unique water chemistry and that it may contain life similar to the beginning of life on Earth or on Mars. I'll have to remember to look that up when I get back to a place with Internet. There's no cell service here.

I feel relaxed and I'm not even angry that Jay didn't pack my beer!
It's quarter past eight now. It'll get dark in less than an hour. Tomorrow, I want to get up to Williams Lake and head a little west on Highway 20.
