Today was a lovely day. In fact, it's going to be a great week as one of the first high-pressure systems of the year is parked over the Lower Mainland. For us here, that means blue sky and plenty of sunshine. After breakfast, Jay suggested driving the seven or eight kilometers to the park. We had a bag of old seeds from a former hamster that he thought the geese might like. In fact, they did. He was quite popular for a few minutes.

Of course, this is a nice time of year to catch things growing. All the trees look fuller and more verdant than even a few weeks ago. The blackberry bushes had just flowers but some salmonberries were ready to pick (and eat).

A small hiking trail runs along side the north side of the lake. In fact, it may go completely around. That's something I should look up right after publishing this entry. Anyway, we started walking on the nicely maintained boardwalk. Soon, we noticed some animals too.

As I was trying to focus on the noisy frog, which was actually quite far away hiding among the lily pads, Jay shouted. He saw a coyote.

They're pretty common even in urban settings, but this guy was running around near the middle of the day in a park relatively crowded with people and their dogs. He moved pretty quickly, so the only photo I managed was when he stopped for a scratch.
On a day such as today, it's hard not to love this place!
