Monkey Kingdom by Disneynature is going to leave our local cinema on Friday, so we figured we'd better go see today. It takes about ten minutes to walk to Landmark Cinema's 10 screens. After all the years we've been attending shows there, we had never viewed a film in screen #7 until today. As the monkey antics are about at the end of their run, this cinema was cute and very intimate. I think there was only one other couple. At least we weren't bothered by loud, popcorn munching patrons.

We had never seen a Disneynature film before. We wanted to see this one as it was shot entirely around the ancient city of Polonnaruwa, Sri Lanka. A story about a troup of touque macaque sounds a bit simple. The visuals were stunning though. I'm glad we didn't wait for it to come out for home viewing. More than just the cinematography, I was impacted by the bird sounds. As much as any of the monkeys, the noises are what reminded me of my time in Sri Lanka.
