Today, the Intertubes were working here. Internet service is occasionally a bit sketchy but I've heard that's oft the case on the south side of town. Of course, it probably has more to do with the cheap Internet service that is provided with this apartment. Nevertheless, I noted that Jay was watching video of the Pope landing in Sri Lanka. Just days ago, a new elections toppled the slowly-evolving dictatorship of the former president there. Although not Catholic, Jay keeps up with current events from his place of birth.
Click to watch the video from Rupahavini TV in Sri Lanka. (The link will likely be temporary.)
I hate to sound jaded but a lot of people probably care more about using the power of modern communications to play Candy Crush over learning about something new. Yet really, what power a Net connection can provide to a person! Ideas from anywhere can be gathered nearly instantaneously. Even with occasionally buffering, just knowing that one can watch TV from anywhere is comforting. Access seems a part of human existence nowadays.
Knowing information is available 24/7 really is how we function in 2015. Our constant connections can only grow more entrenched and persuasive. I really feel sorry for people in circumstances who aren't a part of it.
