The title sounds like we woke up all bright-eyed. Nothing could've been further from the truth. We didn't sleep very well or much on the Second Class train. It was comfortable and the train went right along smoothly. It just didn't add up to getting much quality sleep. At least from Luxor to Aswan, during the final three hours, it was day. What amazing scenery! To one side of the train was often the desert hill but to the right was the Nile River. Most all of Egytian life occurs in and because of the green valley.
We arrive a few minutes before the expected time of 8:00 am. We'd arranged three days through the guy at our hostel. We knew the Nubu Nile was within walking distances of the train station. In fact it was only about 400 feet.
Not surprisingly, we wanted to nap a bit upon arrival. Surprisingly, we woke up at 1:30 pm.
We did go eat lunch and do a bit of walking. The town isn't too large.
We have already met with a travel agent about going to see Abu Simbel tomorrow. If it's a go for tomorrow, we'll have to get up at 3:00 am. Hummm.
