I noticed information about duoLingo on a friend's Facebook feed. It seems as appropriate a time as any to start something new.
I am a little fascinated by the plethora of new, online avenues in education. Many of these sites really do live up to the original promise of the Internet; namely, that information wants to be free. I know there are only so many minutes in a day, but I know I tend to use a bulk of them in some spectacularly unproductive ways.
If I can convince myself to stick with fifteen minutes a day, I may be able to pick up some useful second-language skills. I've heard that learning another language can even delay the onset of Alzheimer's. Anybody want to try Basic Spanish with me? It seems as if the site and apps allow for a little competition between friends. That'd be like having a jogging partner for encouragement.
