I use tablets for a lot of web consumption now, but I still find something comforting about Windows with a real mouse and keyboard. That's how I primarily get stuff done nowadays. There's a wide notebook running Win 7 that shares meals with us as it sits on our table.
I wanted to replace the old Acer with something similar for travelling. I saw the Acer V (11.6") netbook for sale in a flyer for Best Buy. I figured it would be worth the $299 just to have a brand-new, knock-about. Our media server runs an ancient evaluation copy of Windows 8 and so I figured we'd not have much of a learning curve to get Win 8 working for us.
I went by SkyTrain at 10:00 only to discover the store doesn't open til 11:00 on Sundays. I eventually ended up walking near by and picking up one at the Future Shop as the Best Buy at Surrey Central was in complete and utter disarray. Upon returning home, I found the screen size is quite a bit larger than the 10.1 of my old model. This may mean the new one will not fit in the end of my carry-on bag. At least, it weighs in at a few ounces lighter. It seems fine. It'll do.
