Spreading It Around

I'd like to take a moment to mention how much I appreciate my own name. I'm thankful for the whole thing. First, Dennis is not an uncommon name, although I think I've met only several in my lifetime. Hurd was easy to learn to write as a child, even though it comes out more like horde or hard when pronounced in some other language. (Damn, those R-controlled vowels, I say.) I do use these two names almost every day, and they have proven to be quite handy over the years.

I'd like to say I'm especially grateful for the more unique middle name of Sylvester though. My namesake, a centenarian uncle was a bit scary as a child. Yet, adding those nine letters to my name, makes me identifiable in the Internet age. There are a number of Dennis Hurds in this world, but as far as I know, there's only one Dennis Sylvester Hurd.



Google locates 496,000 references to me at present, but you can rest assured that I'll do my darnedest to ensure that figure keeps growing.
