I was checking to see whether I could rent an electric vehicle for a few days. I'd be fun to at least drive a hybrid if not a real battery-powered car. I couldn't quickly locate a normal car-rental company that had either a Toyota Prius or a Nissan Leaf though.
A few weeks ago, I did a great deal of Internet research on the topic. Unfortunately, as I live in a condo tower, my ability to charge up from my parking stall is limited. It is interesting to consider there are a few absolutely-free locations near my house where I could charge up. The New Westminster parkade as well as the New West City Hall have charging stations. Each of these places is about a 10-minute walk from my living room sofa.
It's a shame the e-vehicles themselves cost significantly more than gas models. Given how little I drive, gas will have to cost $20 / gallon before it'd make economic sense.
