I was dark when my phone alarm went off. There was no power again. We had not seen more than six hours of consecutive power in Bagan. The breakfast wasn't ready at 7:00 so we just had coffee and took 5 slices of their bread and a couple of bananas. The bus which stops right in front hotel was supposed to arrive at 7:30 but was a half hour later, so we may have had time for a more proper start to the day after all.
Most of the seats in the bus were full of fellow tourists. We spent about 4 hours with a relatively dry, flat climate. It was reminiscent of northern Florida while later mountains came into view. The bus stopped for lunch at a typical roadside stop. The final two hours was switchback turn after turn. One can find this type of highway in many places, I just hadn't expected to see it today.
At the very top, we came to this city. Wouldn't you know, it was a hill station of the British. Is this why it reminds me of our recent stay in Ella, Sri Lanka. We have a nice hotel with view from the room. We will figure out what we're doing as we do it. Eventually we will make it to Mandalay.
