Wow. These people were very pious or had a whole lot of extra time on their hands. Imagine 3500 temples ranging from house to cathedral-sized all in a 20 kilometer valley. It was an amazing day going around this area by horse and wagon. We left after breakfast at the hotel at little before nine. We went to temple after temple each of which would've been amazing enough on its own. Put them all within sight of each other and it was a bit overwhelming. We chose not to stay until dusk and went back to the hotel by four thirty in the late afternoon.
