"Fundamentalism is caused by ignorance and a lack of exposure to other groups."
Dennis Sylvester Hurd (1959- )
We spent a little time today buying simple grocery items for donation to six, poor families. This almsgiving is being given in memory of Jay's mother. She died exactly nine years ago and this type of act is common for Buddhists. Just before leaving Canada this year, we also made our yearly donations. I chose, as a Christian, to give to the Diabetic Association and made that gift in memory of my own mother. Moslems give donations called Zakat. I am sure that the act of giving is also part of the Hindu faith. Fundamentalist are found in each of these faiths and ironically have much in common with each other. They simply cannot look past their own ignorance to see the commonality of life and the strong desire to do good acts.
