Still Life in the Magazine Format?

When I logged on to my city's public library site, I was surprised to see that they were offering e-magazines through Zinio. I had downloaded that Android app and had even purchased a few subscriptions almost exactly a year ago. I found I didn't often open it as I'd only paid for several subscriptions and much of my tablet time seemed to be spent reading news via aggregation services such as Taptu and Currents.



Seeing how, my library was going to let me check out magazines for free, I thought I'd give it a second and third look. I even ran uptown to replace my library card as somehow along the way I'd switched over to a city of Burnaby one which could only be used for the circulation of physical materials at New Westminster.

As I already had a Zinio account getting my new issues proved to be a breeze. In fact, my card and a screen image of a British Columbia Magazine was yesterday's daily photo. Yet, I am happy enough to have decided I should make a whole blog entry about this and include the new photo of my tablet's screen with issues waiting to be read.

I am especially grateful for the timing of this as I will have my Toshiba on our flight over the Pacific at the end of the month. I'd much rather read periodicals then try to pay attention to a long book or movie.
