So getting ready a few weeks early seems perfectly all right. We're more used to packing for a month with just two backpacks. This time, as we'll be away for the whole winter, we will probably end up bringing along a bit more unnecessary junk. It kind of goes against my grain, especially since most of our time spent will be in the exact places where textiles are manufactured nowadays. I do worship the idea of travelling with just a single change of clothes.
As the items will all be summer-wear, there's little problem with packing two weeks in advance. Fortunately, at least one airline, on which we'll be flying around in Asia, is a low cost carrier. That means we have an incentive to pack light to avoid extra baggage fees. Oh wait; that's true with just about any airline nowadays! Clever us ... we bought a large, cheap, red duffel bag with wheels on one end. We can share it. Then, we can simply throw it away after four and a half months visiting Sri Lanka, Burma, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, and Malaysia.
