Jiwan,
Even though you aren't going home this winter, you might want to keep any eye, once in a while, on that airline we were talking about on the weekend:
www.airasia.com
We're getting to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on China Eastern through Shanghai for about $1005 return. Then, all the flying I talked about included:
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Colombo, Sri Lanka
Colombo, Sri Lanka to Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok, Thailand to Rangoon, Burma
Rangoon, Burma to Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok, Thailand to Phnom Phen, Cambodia
Vientiane, Laos to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
All these flights together are costing us less than $400 per person. So we are spending a lot less than just usual flights to Colombo which can be over $1700 for a round-trip ticket nowadays.
Right now, it looks like they're going to Kathmandu only three days a week. I see they're adding destinations every few months and growing fast. It's something to think about for the future.
Dennis
We feel Shanghai is a great stopover, although we're not planning on doing that this time. You could get a visa to visit China right in Vancouver.
