It seems as though our 'Juneuary' has now become 'Julyuary'. Today is the last day of a long weekend for many Canadians but those out here on the wet coast are neither basking nor baking.
We sat around the house for most of the morning. I switched on the media server to a Sri Lankan TV channel for the 10:00 pm news in English. My only comment would be their president is surely a busy man! After, we watched a television drama which is fairly new. A half hour show is only about half that time once the titles and commercials are cut. Only four episodes had been aired and were consequently offered for viewing online.

The name of
this new series would roughly translate into
"The Village Where the Cannon Ball Tree Flowers Grow". (I've included the picture to the right to better explain that.) Sinhalese "teledramas" are in the grand tradition of TV soap operas. Sometimes little happens in a single episode, and some go on for years. I like this one because it's a village type as the main characters are set in a rural environment. Life is simple but, oh, never easy. I must give credit for the authenticity of the portrayals. The scenes aren't gussied up or altered. I like this type for the soundtrack as well. I felt as though I were there for all the sounds of the jungle birds and squirrels. It provided a vivid, happy reminder of where we'll spend three months of this upcoming winter.
While I was watching things from the island, I switched to another station which promotes many musical videos. I guess the following group is Sri Lanka's answer to an updated
Manhattan Transfer ...
