I can practically hear people screaming already. Those who have a conniption-fit when Facebook changes some little thing, aren't going to like this huge overhaul in the MS Windows due to be released in the fall. I installed the Windows 8 Release Preview Evaluation copy Build 8400 on the media server today.
It's got a brand new front end that will work on future tablets and devices. That is where all the apps will be. I do admit the Microsoft, proof-in-concept apps are rather jaw-dropping. I'm not used to Microsoft being so friendly with data from other sites. For example, after one logs on one is asked whether to connect to Facebook. Their photo app wanted my Flickr account as well. It's definitely the shape of things to come. It is nice seeing just how differently the mashups work as opposed to, say, an propitiatory list of services from the competition. On a PC, there's still a desktop option that leaves things pretty much as what you're used to.
If only my weird-ass, old Azentech 7.1 Dolby / DTS soundcard were compatible. Without this, my test is for naught.
