Good transit vastly increases the livability of an area. I absolutely love keeping my truck in its parking stall when I need to go downtown. Vancouver's city center is a good 12 miles from here, but I can catch a SkyTrain right from my building. A train goes by every few minutes. The system can be noisy but that is a small price to pay for the convenience. I can be at the downtown campus of BCIT within twenty-five minutes of walking out of our 10th floor apartment. Most importantly, those minutes end up being completely stress free.
Transit in our city is not at all cheap. I'm sure numerous inefficiencies could be eliminated. Yet, when a transit trips costs less than parking, people will definitely consider it. When the trip is
cheaper and more convenient using transit, they'd be fools not to.
After I take the escalators up from Granville, the BCIT downtown campus is across the street.
