Don't Poke at the Bunnies

I am a little proud when I say I live in New Westminster, British Columbia. The city is little. It's also old, at least as far as places around these parts go. Most importantly, #NewWest is a little quirky. If my city were a car it'd probably be an AMC Pacer.

It has also been our home since we arrived in Canada in 1996.



I've come to appreciate not only our location at the geographical center of BC's Lower Mainland, but also some of the city's little traditions. I know that the Petting Farm in Queen's Park gets started on Victoria Day long weekend. Seeing how that is just four days away, I wondered if any animals had yet arrived at their summer home. Right after my 8:00 am dental appointment, I stopped by to see. Not a creature was stirring; only wild squirrels and birds were about. Yet as a break during our 41st Annual Hyack Festival weekends, we'll surely go back to pat a goat and stare at the bunnies, chicks, and peacocks.
