Using Jay's transit pass, we walked downstairs and boarded the SkyTrain to cross the Fraser River. We figured that a trip to the Surrey Central T&T Supermarket would be a useful way to spend a little time. It's a huge chain store that stocks primarily Asian foods. Things come all over the globe and it's an adventure just walking through the aisles seeing products from places such as the Philippines, or Malaysia.
We like the Surrey Central location better than the Metrotown one. We ended up buying a few items. More importantly, seeing produce such as snake fruit, durian, mango-stein, and lychees seemed to bring a bit of tropical into a day when the weather clearly wasn't. I shall never stop appreciating the enormous variety in the simple things of life one gets by living in an urban environment. The types of foodstuffs available to us is amazing and welcomed.
The supermarket has excellent take-away Chinese food too. We bought a single, 3-item meal to bring home and then added it to our own lunch.
