Exploring the Mighty Mekong

We first visited Thailand in the 1980's and Indonesia in the 1990's. We travelled in Cambodia in 2009 and Malaysia in 2011. Now it's time to get more earnest about exploring South-East Asia. We're definitely getting a jump start on planning for this one! The earliest date of departure is still a good six months away. Yet trying for cheap flights can never start too soon.

This will be our the first year of "winter-escape" from Raincouver (Rain + Vancouver). We'll probably start with a three-months stay in Sri Lanka as preparation. Then, using Kuala Lumpur as a base, for a month and a half, we'll choose between destinations in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos.

Let the research in travel guides and online materials begin! Education is the initial step in every successful journey.
