Once upon a time, twenty years ago, one had to listen to radio stations within a close geographic proximity. Then, the Internet came to desktops with RealAudio. I remember working in the UAE Higher Colleges of Technology in the early 1990's. At the time I was quite amazed I could maintain a streaming connection for Net audio. Now, radio from anywhere can be played anywhere. I'm steaming a Dubai station (Coast 103.2) through the tunein app on my phone as I'm adding the entry.
Really, isn't it time to free up more of the airwaves? All we need is robust IP everywhere.
