Today, I was annoyed as an e-bill from Bell ExpressVu indicated that my subscription had gone up another $3 a month. I went online after requesting a change of an old password that I probably only used twice. My current subscription is grandfathered because it's so old. I was going to try to slash it a little but then I ended up figuring out that for $0.80 more, I can add a few additional news and educational channels. Really, I was at quite a bare minimum.
It seems to me as if the big players are desperately trying to remain relevant. They know that if they're fast they can capture folks who are used to a monthly cable or satellite bills into signing on for a big package. The thing is, pretty much everything is available over the Internet at the moment. Netflix and Hulu Plus would come to less than $20 a month. An HD antenna would pick up local broadcasts pretty much for free.
I asked to pay $1 more for the time being. I really think it won't be long before I hang up completely on my satellite service though.
