This is just a quick hello as I have some time today to think about our PV visit from Feb. 14 to 21. It seems I did convince my partner to take a little extra leave, especially after finding out the Carnaval is taking place during the weekend between those Tuesdays.
You know that my taste runs on the tiny, traditional, and cheap side. I think the fact we're staying at the Hotel Rio Malecon on next month's stay, might give you further proof of our propensities. I'm not as keen as a year ago in buying something there. It's not how the Canadian news outlets are constantly bashing Mexico for safety concerns. I'm just a little disappointed that the market, even the low end, has not really seemed to have become aware of the realities of much of the globe's economy. As well, I think there is a lot of coast south of PV that we might like exploring before jumping into ownership. Then, there's always ... this blog entry.
Still it is nice to be in our financial position to immediately be able to throw down cash if something came by that was too good to pass up.
Here, I just wanted to 'think aloud on paper'. I opened the MLS system and copied some of the properties I've been interested in over the past year. I have copied them directly from the MLS site. If we can find a free morning or afternoon, it might be fun to meet up. Maybe we can set a date for later in our stay, if you're free, to actually take a look at one or two. Of course, my partner and I will walk around and eliminate any which we deem as in an unsuitable location. This will act to whittle down the list during the first few days.
While still in Vancouver, I'd definitely value any opinions you have as well.

You went to take video of this area for us. It's been on the market for almost forever. Although I feel the price is about 40% too much, we'd love to take a look.

This property has been reduced a bit and is in my dream location but obviously costs too much as it has been for sale under different MLS numbers for a number of years. It might also be a little small and 'cave like'.

We'd like to take a look at the house this area. Being on the hill would be better than being in the flat boring area near the port or airport. This has been recently reduced. I wonder how motivated she is to sell. I like the idea of no maintenance fees but might feel afraid to lock up and leave it unattended for months on end. Are known foreigner-owned buildings ever considered targets for thieves? Why do I see few listings in "Gringo Gultch"?

I'd have to see how long it would take to walk downtown from up here. There have been several apartments for sale and the prices have always seemed good by comparison.

This was the very first building I saw with for 'sale signs' when visiting Puerto Vallarta, so in a way it prompted the very thought of buying in your city. The location is optimum even though there might be a lot of road noise. The price is unrealistic for the size of the places though. As I don't foresee sellers becoming realistic in pricing, we probably don't need to waste time looking at anything here. Unless, you have access to any non-MLS information ...
I hope all is well for you. I want to thank you for being the one I can talk to about my real estate dreams.
