I'd only been in Lowe's in Washington state. I guess they started in Canada in Ontario in 2007. Slowly, they've been spreading west. The one in my city is the very first in British Columbia. It isn't a great deal different than the Home Depot that's also about a mile and a half away in Surrey. Still, it's nice to have competition, as that ensures deals. Lowe's also carry products from different suppliers, so choice is always a nice option.
I am thinking about this as I had to drive past the medium-format Wal-mart which is in the process of going all Supercenter. As well, after crossing the bridge and heading towards downtown, I had to pass the construction of the urban transit mall encompassing the SkyTrain station. The new Safeway will open within the month. That's next to a future, 10-screen Landmark Cinemas and numerous retail shops. On the other side of town, we have yet to visit the new 24-hour Thrifty Foods in Sapperton that opened the other weekend.
My, my city is going through a spasm of new retail mania, isn't it?
