Its power has always been the ability to precisely set what news is served up to one's screen. In fact, it is sort of the grand-daddy of the change in paradigm from single source towards multiple organization, online aggregation. I have numerous special sections for particular interests. In recent years, their site was starting to look a little "long in the tooth" as there are more graphic ways of sorting through news and information. For example, I am especially fond of the new tablet app called News360.
Yet just yesterday, I noticed that Google made substantial changes to the news page as part of the revamping of all their web tools. Now, it is even cleaner and whiter which goes in the opposite direction from the other, newer applications. I cannot give up Google News though, as it scrapes very deeply around the Internet. I just set up a Malaysian News section as I want to become a great deal more cognizant of current events there. Our recent trip has really intrigued me. I am grateful for the opportunity to experience the world in ways not possible in the days of print.
