While Set Up ...

The email from Asia Miles arrived in the night. I opened it in the morning and discovered our flights from Xi'an to Shanghai were successfully booked using some banked mileage. They will charge our credit cards about $25 for the taxes and fees. Oh, and as they didn't have my middle name in their records, they needed me to email a copy of my passport.

I don't keep my scanner set up, so I had to scramble to get it ready to make a pdf. There were a few old photos sitting inside the scanner's cover. I think they are snapshots that I have found around the apartment in books or drawers. I thought I could at least put one into digital form.



This photo was taken in August of 1990. (Remind me to wipe off the dust before scanning the next time.) I was standing near the door to the Juffair apartment in Bahrain. That area, back in those days, had a large area planted with date trees. I remember that many parrots used to live in among them. Those birds were most probably the feral offspring from caged ones which escaped years prior to that time.
