Nah, I'm not in the mood to create a poem and I've already pontificated profusely about the merits of living on the SkyTrain line. I simply decided that I wanted to put this photo taken last weekend into my eJournal and images. I took this shot from the Metrotown platform looking back towards downtown Vancouver with a tiny glimpse of the next train leaving the Patterson Station. This shows only the tracks for the westbound trains. My building is directly attached to the Columbia Station in downtown New Westminster, BC. I seldom, if ever, drive downtown. Why bother when it takes longer by road and two, system-wide, 90-minute tickets cost less than the price of downtown parking?
It is still fun after all these years to notice foreign visitors become a little concerned when they note that each set of cars are running the lines without a driver. I suppose back in 1986 it was more of a oddity. Honestly, wouldn't you rather put your life in the hands of sensors and control-room monitors than in some drunkard driver who'd gotten into a row with his wife before his shift started?
