As I tell me students, if you want to strike up a conversation with a stranger, it's always possible to talk about the weather. Following my own advice, I am going to do that right here, again, as well. In this case it's more as if you can't think of anything to say, just discuss the weather.
I'm upset. Although there's a forecaster's promise of a nice weekend coming up, the weather outside the window at the moment continues to be gray and rainy. Continues! I want to emphasize that it continues to be gray and rainy. We are approaching the middle of 2011 and we seem to have completely missed out on spring. Honestly, I am going to snap a picture to accompany this entry, and it'll look like it could have been taken in February.
The very first winter we were in Vancouver was a little rough. Coming from a decade and a half in the Persian Gulf, I was used to a lot of sun. The lack of it here from November 1996 to March 1997 seemed traumatic. Although in a new place, I wasn't sure why I felt depressed. My spirits soared when the rain clouds left and the skies turned blue.
I surely would like for that to happen again, NOW!
