I don't know what the neighbours think. I've got my home theatre system cranked up. I guess it's all right to do so at 4:00 in the afternoon.
One could never accuse me of being a music snob. I didn't put this CD cover here to show my good taste. Other than standard-fare, Music Appreciation 101 in college, I am not well-versed in classical music at all. I am not wearing my ignorance as a badge either. It's a shame, almost criminal really, that I do not know more about the genre.
Yet one is never too old to learn. My public library has an excellent collection of all sorts of music on CD. I might never have been inclined to have purchased Bach: Organ Works played by Lionel Rogg. Yet, I have always been sort of impressed with church organs. The Baptist Church in Newport, New Hampshire had an old electrified pump organ. It took up the entire end of the church behind the pulpit. I don't know anything about it's history, but as a kid, the huge instrument was awe-inspiring. The bass notes could punch one right in the gut, in almost any pew in the place!
Even in my apartment, the sound replicated via DTS output on my HTS is a little scary. I mean especially with the volume cranked up to 70% as it is at the moment. The music seems very clever to me. There's a lot of pure showmanship here. I am often startled. This really is not for the faint of heart and I dare say it is a little on the wild side. I bet this whole side of my building would agree.
