I hadn't really thought about what today's special daily picture would be. Then in the afternoon, I had to leave the comfort of the apartment. Our building's fire alarm was ringing, so I had to go outside and wait. Of course the elevators do not work during emergencies, so I walked down the ten flights of stairs. After the firemen arrived, they checked the panel and found out it was a false alarm. Eventually, we were able to go back into the building. I was happy as it was raining out and I'd forgotten to put on a hat. So, this is the picture from that event.
The reason that the image is here is because it's somewhat of a special one. It's not the subject matter that makes it so unique, it's its number. I have been adding a picture (or video clip) to Flickr on a daily basis since July of 2005. Whether sick in bed or half way around the world on vacation, at least one image has been uploaded for each and every day. Today, My Daily Picture Parade image count for this project hit 2,000. That's a whole lot of days!
