I cannot ever remember a time when both of us have had time off from work, but have not had plans to go anywhere. That is the very real prospect for next week. How strange! We usually laugh at folks who stay at home during vacations. I suppose our lethargy is mostly due to having not planned ahead. As I mentioned in an email to a friend this week, we did spend about two months of 2010 sleeping in hotel rooms, so I guess we've been away quite a lot.
Upon reflecting on the situation, I think we are going to enjoy hanging around home. I'm going to treat it like a vacation just without the need for a plane ticket. We started early today by doing something unusual for us.
We went to a brunch buffet at a casino right here in town. The Starlight Casino in Queensborough always has Sunday brunches from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm. The food was sufficient but the chef didn't come out with the huge roast beef to carve until after we'd just about finished. I really didn't need to eat any more. In fact, I still don't know why I needed to consume two plates of breakfast food before starting on the lunch items. Call me, well, an average, overfed North American today.
