I don't write much about politics here. Basically, it's futile as all that can happen is one can greatly annoy half of the people who read it. If they disagree with my view, there's little chance to change their minds. Conversely, if they agree, then there's little point in writing it in the first place.
I do want to leave these few thoughts about the debate on allowing the building of the proposed mosque in NYC:
Suggesting there's sacred ground on Manhattan is a bit perverse considering there's a strip club only a few blocks away from Ground Zero. Can a strip club be preferable to a place of worship?
I abhor the political motives of those who took the life of innocent civilians but also those politicians now using this debate to further their own causes. Religion is often used by those with an agenda that is anything but religious.
Most importantly, either the great citizens of America allow the personal freedom of religion on every single inch of the United States of America or must give up on the idea that such a freedom exists. There's no such thing as an "appropriate location" for allowing rights and freedoms.
