Three PCs for 800 Square Feet

I went to Best Buy in Queensborough when the doors opened this morning and bought a new laptop. It may have been the fact on the recent vacation, I had to huddle on the granite steps in Brooklyn, NY in freezing temperatures to steal a net connection. My little netbook was, in this case, too little. Or it could be the fact the little screen and keyboard on the netbook were not too comfortable. I do know that the main, formerly desktop, computer case will now be used mostly for television viewing. For sanity's sake, I had to pick up a regular laptop.

I got another Acer product today although it was primarily the price that drove the purchase decision. The model number is AS7535-5415. That doesn't mean much but the price seemed right for the specifications offered. The 17.3" widescreen seems okay. It's got a 500 GB hard drive and wireless N. The new equipment will primarily be used for Internet access. There's even an HDMI output near all the USB ports and although I won't use it much, that further convinced me about buying it. Windows 7 Home Premium is installed, so the $C 599.00 price seemed fairly reasonable.

The only draw back I can see so far is the rather wonky keyboard. I went to Washington State to avoid having to buy a bilingual keyboard on the little netbook. This beastly French/English, Chiclet keyboard is going to take some getting used to ...
