Flickr: Unawatuna tag slide show.
I'm later in trying to get my daily entry online today. My afternoon class was fine as this group of students works hard and doesn't waste time. Now, it's time to relax. Jay and I keep thinking of new things to do on this year's trip to Sri Lanka. The main problem will be trying to fit all the activities and places into just 30 days. For sure, we'll try to visit the Sinharaja Forest Reserve I was going to add a Flickr slide show of it as many people had added the pictures of exotic species of animals and insects.
I changed my mind though. During the past couple of trips we have, to a large extent, avoided the beaches. We did get over to Aragum Bay a few months before the 2006 tsunami. This time I figure we could spend a bit of time doing what so many tourists do; namely, hit the superb southern beaches. The slide show above is comprised of photos tagged with the name Unawatuna. In mythic Indian folklore of the Ramayana, the area has a mountain which was actually lifted up from India by the monkey-warrior Hanuman. Rather than a strenuous effort such as that, I hope we go just to drop myself on the white sands and sip a cool beverage.
