Today it's clear and frigid air from Alaska is visiting. I don't think I've ever seen the expected weekly low of -20C here in the dozen years I've been a resident. Mind you, the scales are different than when I grew up. And strangely, although I'm adept in metric for distance and speed, I can't convert between the temperature scales. I've lived long enough with centigrade to think in it. Conversely, I can still discuss the world in Fahrenheit. It's just that I have no facility to convert on the fly.
Luckily there are easy ways to check if you've got a browser open. It says that -18C is around 0F. Those numbers may be familiar to many but it's not something I'm used to anymore. I'd rather have my grey, rainy days.
