A Weighty Subject (Me)

Let's talk about my weight. It's not a topic which may spark your interest in the slightest, but remember every single thing in this blog is all about me.

I used to be fat, quite fat. This image appeared in my eJournal and images on June 20, 2005. I was probably close to 110 kilos in this class picture.



It wasn't until after returning from Sri Lanka in the fall of 2006 that I decided it was time to do something other than blame bad genes. You see, public transit in Sri Lanka had seats most suitable for much littler asses. As a consequence, I started to slowly cut back on my portion sizes at meals. That was all and it seemed to work. I lost about a kilo a month for a year and a half. Unfortunately, that sort of came to a screeching halt in March. It did seem to correspond to a Celebrity Cruise of the Mexican Riviera but, that's another entry, isn't it?

I visit my doctor every three months, expressly to renew the medication which lowers my triglycerides. In this case, I continue to blame my bad genes. My doctor seemed more pleased than I did. I hadn't gained anything since the last visit. It must be added though that I didn't lose anything either. My doctor switched scales and went back to pounds as he thinks patients are happier. I am not as happy because it took a considerable amount of time for me to learn to think metric.

Anyway, I currently weigh 205 lbs but want to be at 175. I have a renewed interest to get through these stubborn 30 lbs but I fear it's not going to be as easy as the first thirty.
