We were out by the river early today. There was fog and a light frost this morning. Across the Fraser from our apartment is a park in Surrey. Tannery Park is not big but it's relatively quiet. Some people bring their dogs there. It's the place we go to bury dead hamsters.
Hamsters are ideal apartment pets. Although they can look similar, each has a unique personality. We should know, the one which died late last night was our fifth. We've just called them all, 'the hamster'. H5 was a rather sedate fellow. He'd happily sit wherever placed. He didn't jump around much. He slept more than the previous ones we owned. He took his last breaths last night while we petted him.
It is sad when something in the house dies, no matter its size or expected lifespan.
