A thick, quiet blanket of fog rolled in off the Fraser River this morning and decided to linger well past noon. It is classic October weather for our corner of the Lower Mainland, complete with the seasonal inversion that shears off the tops of the towers and keeps the sun thoroughly hidden.
With the mist providing an impenetrable privacy curtain, it felt like the perfect opportunity for a midday soak. There was, however, a slight hiccough in the timing. Dax, our resident manager, had just thoroughly cleaned and topped up the sunken reservoir. While the standard of maintenance is beyond reproach, several hundred gallons of fresh municipal water were still stubbornly creeping their way toward optimum soaking heat.
A temporary wait for the heaters to catch up takes nothing away from the setup. Even after all these years of living at Carnarvon Place, having this particular amenity just steps from our door remains an absolute, priceless luxury.
