The Galle Face Green on New Year's Eve

Dat 061 of Our Winter: We headed to the Colombo Fort area near the World Trade Center a little early. We knew that the real check-in time at the Steuart by Citrus Hotel was 2:00 pm. However we got there around 12:30 and did have to wait about forty five minutes before we could go to the rooms.  The dark wood, Scottish decor was interesesting.

 

The hotel is very interesting because it is one of the oldest buildings in that area.  The link I added is from my AI Ajith, my personal assistant.   We went in search for lunch and ended up at Galle Face One, the newest mega-mall just across the street from where tonight's activities were centered.  We found a Manhattan Fish Market in the Food Court.

We were well prepared.  We took naps and rested after the very late lunch.  Jay went out for some Sri Lanka 'short eats' which means bakery goods and savory small fried items.

We were ready to hit the town at 9:00 pm.

Whereas most people were completely exhausted (well folks our age), we were much more ready to greet the new year after the arrival of midnight.

It took around a half an hour to walk back to the cool hotel room where we'd left on the A/C to recover.  A quick shower and a nice night sleep will be possible.
