Time to Start Getting Ready

I had a long messaging conversation with my sister this afternoon. She asked me about our winter plans, knowing that we always spend four or five months during Canada's winter in a place that's warmer. Most of our last was spent in Mauritius and South Africa.

   

For the upcoming winter, we'll use Sri Lanka as our base destination. We headed there just two years ago too.  In fact, the picture above was one of the first taken at the house after arriving in Minuwangoda in November 2023. 

I checked my calendar and we'll be heading there again in less than six weeks! We will again fly through Istanbul, but without doing an unexpected stop-over this trip, I hope.  We'll connect directly to a Colombo flight and should arrive on the tropical island on November 1st.  We have some other travel plans in December with Jay's sisters. The stay in Sri Lanka will be like time enjoying our second home.  

Finally, in 2026, we will leave a bit earlier than during some years by continuing eastward. Jay and I already have bookings to fly back from Japan in mid-March.
