Four adults holding two rubber ducks can only mean one thing to us. It had been our time to host the crew for another dinner and pass along the plastic toys to those who must host next.

Last night after 9:30 pm, we handed the plastic pets to the Richmond guys. With our responsibility relinquished, they can now plan, most probably, our annual Canadian Thanksgiving in October. That is a favourite, long-lived, October tradition!
Before we began our journeys into retirement, we met more frequently during the spring, summer, and autumn months. Now, we have so many more appointments and trips, the ducks are moving between the three apartments less frequently. This is our first hosting in 2025 in New Westminster even though it is the end of August.
Today, we started off 'dinner' a little earlier than usual by having everyone arrive at 3:30 pm. We had a few snacks and then went out to walk the New West riverfront. It had been years since we were in the Quay Market building all together.
We returned back along Columbia Street. As it was warm out, we made use of our building's swimming pool and hot tub. So we were ready for food after that. Jay had cooked two types of Sri Lankan short-grain rice, chicken curry, two types of karalla (bitter gourd), and mackerel/tomato salad.
Today became a more special event as it was Tim's birthday. We had bought cheese cake and ice cream for dessert.
It was a nice evening. I was surprised when I noticed the 3-liter box of wine was just about all gone! My goodness!
