This morning we headed off to see some things on Vancouver's North Shore mountains. Our first stop, though, was at Burnaby Lake because we were heading to Canadian Route 1.
We exited soon after crossing the Iron Workers' Memorial Bridge and found Lynn Canyon Park. What a fantastic day to walk to the 30-Foot Pool. That name is supposed to signify its depth. It was a little bit of a hike but worth the effort.
I asked Google Maps to navigate to the Cleveland Dam, which holds a reservoir for the area's water system. The trip chose some interesting roads through North Vancouver's Canyon Heights. How great to see the reservoir was pretty full. Again, we realized just how amazing the weather was.
Lastly, we went back down to Highway 1 and exited into Horseshoe Bay village. This is one of the port locations for the BC Ferries departures. We hadn't visited for a few years and were impressed with the new housing alongside the hill. The development has clearly improved the Horseshoe Bay waterfront. The gals ate at Trolls. We had a quick Subway sandwich and walked about the village.
Getting back across the bridge was a nightmare. It took an hour longer because of bumper-to-bumper traffic. We crawled along to the Canada Way exit and eventually got to New Westminster. We stopped up at our Walmart before getting back to the apartment around 6:30 pm.
I'm bushed.
