Day 10 - The Vistula River runs through Warsaw, Poland. We've been here a couple of days but haven't really focused on it. In fact, it's sort of a little difficult to see from the Old Town because the city is up on an embankment.
Interestingly, the areas along the river are not built up. Whereas many old cities with rivers have constricted them within concrete, Warsaw seems somewhat set apart from the Vistula.
However, the along the water's edge are parks and green spaces. This city has an enormous amount of green space. This makes the city very livable as everyone has parkland close to them.
After our walk along the river, it was impossible for us NOT to stop in the old town. Jay noticed something going on there. We thought it might be the 60th day after Easter. That would've made it the Feast of Corpus Christi. Apparently, that date occurred on May 30 in 2024, so we are unsure what we witnessed.
It was getting to be noon and we were a bit hungry. We knew that our Asian restaurant was in the area, so we ate a bit early. The portions are huge here for less money that we had to spend in Berlin.
Lastly, we walked through Ogród Saski Park. It is hard not to run into former palaces which have had the vast land holdings become public spaces.
