Today was our final day aboard the ms Noordam on this short journey. We've enjoyed our time even though we only stopped at the ports of Ketchikan, AK and Prince Rupert, BC. The first full day and today, we enjoyed the scenic splendor of the 'Inside Passage' between Vancouver Island and the Mainland.
This trip on the Holland America Line finally felt as though we're back to the pre-COVID days. The staff seems to be having fun in their jobs and that makes for a happy ship.
There have had a number of surprises. Today we saw the first ever 'Cake You Away' event on the Lido Deck. What a display of confectionery wonder! Food is always been a prime enjoyment when cruising and this trip was exceptional, especially considering this was a pre-season cruise for the summer AK season.
Jay and I spent a lot of time watching the scenery. There is, in fact, no other way to see today's sights unless one is on the water. We can call such a wonderful place our permanent home! It took this trip to remind us how very special it is.
It's before dinner but we have a show in which to look forward. Of course, later tonight there's the less enjoyable task of packing the luggage. Jay and I shared a large suitcase for this 5-night cruise. We have to put it outside the cabin when we go to bed.
They will make sure we're off the ship tomorrow morning. As we will simply take the SkyTrain home to New Westminster, there's no reason for us to leave in the early morning. We'll disembark at around 9:30 am and then go home. That's one place where there's no one to feed and clean up after us.
