Your Supermarket Doesn't Carry Fresh Cilantro?

Day 45 - Today, Jay and I went to pick up groceries at Keells Supermarket. We had really not picked up a supply of vegetables since getting back from Dubai. And, of course, we'd left the fridge pretty sparse as we were away for more than two weeks. We returned to the house in a tuk-tuk with three large bags full of vegetables, chicken, fish, and of course two litres of ice cream.

'Frosty the Snowman' was playing on the PA system. However, the multitude of fresh leaves belied the notion that much snow would be falling anywhere near.   I took this picture just to show the large selection of leaves as well as spices normally used when cooking Sri Lankan food. 

   

The coloured signage mentions the following in English: kankun, kathurumurunga, sarna, manioc leaves, kohila dalu, gotukola, thebu, mukunuwenna, neeramulliya, passion leaves, lunuwila leaves, gonica leaves, thora leaves, tree spinach, and ranawara. Of course, these aren't all in season at the moment.  Yet, the other side of the display shows an equal number of fresh items for sale on that side.
