Day 0 - Many times our international flights out of Vancouver have begun boarding after midnight. Today's scheduled departure is at 8:15 pm. We're supposed to fly 12 hours towards Istanbul, Türkiye to catch an 8-hour connecting flight to Colombo. The new 4-day-a-week, direct service from IST to CMB gives us just one hour and twenty-five minutes of time to transfer.
Already, the flight that is due to arrive in Vancouver is around an hour and twenty-five minutes late. So whether we'll be able to make up any time is unknown. We may get to our destination at the scheduled time of November 2nd at 6:10 am. Then again, we may not. We'll eventually find out. That's for sure.
It wasn't too long ago when we were last in IST. I have a lot of good photos in my blog. We had a very nice, six-day stopover when coming back home in the spring of 2022. (Really, it was last year?) Istanbul ranks among my most favourite world cities. I remember we got back to YVR on the very last day that COVID-19 tests were required when entering Canada.
