Today started out on par for a Saturday with a trip to get groceries. One difference however was that we went down with the two, large, brown, plastic Adirondack chairs that'd been on our balcony for a long time. (The only reference in this blog was before we retired in 2014.) The plastic was degrading, so we'll buy something different when we return from winter next March. It was our condo buildings' clean-up day and a good day to dispose of unwanted items.
The day ended with a difference too as it was a Duck Swap dinner in Vancouver's West End. We took the SkyTrain to Burrard Station and waited for a #2 Bus to Davie Street. Jiwan provided us with Nepali snacks before we ate. There was an enormous pot of pasta after that. It was an early evening. We didn't stay long as we are expecting a stormy night.
The weather condition we used to call a Pineapple Express is now referred to as an Atmospheric River. Both terms show the idea that wet and windy storm systems form in a trough that extends down toward the south Pacific. The lineup generally dumps 50 to 100 ml of rain with winds commonly around 50 to 70 kph along the BC coast.
So, we collected the ducks. We think we'll be able to host the last dinner of the season and allow the ducks to travel to Richmond. That'll mean next spring, our initial gathering of 2023 will be there.
When coming home, we happened to board one of the original Expo '86 SkyTrain cars. Not too many oldies are left in the rolling stock nowadays. Boy, it sure was cold and noisy! We were home a bit after nine o'clock.
