Getting to Winnipeg went without a hitch. We did have to get up at quarter past five in the morning though. The connections from the Skytrain to Bus #100 and back to the other Skytrain were effortless. Getting through domestic security at YVR only took around 15 minutes although there were a lot of people!
It was different for us to be on a 2.5-hour flight. We're used to long-haul airplane journeys. We arrived on time at 2:00 pm local time but it was only noon in BC.
We took bus #20 to Winnipeg Square and easily walked to the Humphry Inn and Suites near the Fort.
We only had a cookie on the plane, so we were pretty hungry by 5:00 pm. We ate in the Ivory Restaurant just a few blocks away. It was an all-you-can-eat Indian buffet. It came to about $US 20 per person but we were uncomfortably full when leaving.
So, we had to walk off a bit of the meal. We walked up Portage Avenue. The wind felt as though it was freezing as today's high temperature in Winnipeg was a mere 10C. The lady at the hotel said it usually isn't quite this cold in June.
We tried to find the 'inside passageways' where one can walk between buildings while staying in the heated corridors. We found the statue of Timothy Eaton. It's famous for having a shiny foot. People rub it in hopes of good luck and fortune.
Tomorrow is supposed to be completely sunny with a temperature of at least 18C.
