Day 18 - Last night, we went for a walk on the Bur Dubai side of the Creek. We took the Green Line just two stops to Al Ghubaiba Metro Station. We then walked around the outside Al-Shindagha Museum complex and towards Al-Fahidi. The old sections of Bur Dubai are still like being in India except the lights are bright and the streets relatively clean. We caught the Metro from the stop that's closer to BurJuman.
Then again, this morning we went for an exploratory walk. This time we got on the Red Line over to Union Metro Station in Deira. The Al Ghurair Center was a shopping mall from our days here, in fact, some signage mentioned that the mall was now over 40 years old! I think I recall a skating rink here. I used it and ended up on my ass as much as on the skates. We didn't see any sign of it today, so perhaps it was removed during renovations. I have put out a call to people who might have remembered if this is the location to a few Facebook friends from who'd remember. Today, we also walked to the next Metro Station at Al-Baniyas Square. In order to get back to the Bur Dubai side we returned on the Green Line to Union. It was 2 Dhs cheaper than taking the green line under the Gold Souk and far end of the Creek. I am on a pension, you see!
